About the Role

We are seeking a Director of Process Development with deep expertise in viral vectors and upstream processes (USP). You’ll lead critical initiatives to optimize and scale viral vector production, playing a key role in moving therapies from R&D to GMP manufacturing.

This position offers a chance to directly impact patient outcomes while working at the forefront of bioprocess innovation.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and scale-up of viral vector and upstream production processes

  • Oversee day-to-day process development to ensure scalability, consistency, and quality

  • Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams for smooth tech transfer and GMP compliance

  • Mentor and guide a team of scientists and engineers, fostering innovation and growth

  • Support regulatory submissions by preparing and reviewing technical documentation


Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Molecular Biology, or a related field

  • 8+ years in biotech or pharma, with strong focus on viral vector production and upstream processing

  • Experience with lentivirus, AAV, adenovirus, or similar platforms

  • Proven leadership managing teams of 8–10 in a cross-functional environment

  • Deep understanding of GMP manufacturing and regulatory compliance

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry experience in gene and cell therapy, especially in fast-paced settings

  • Hands-on knowledge of bioreactor operations, suspension cultures, and vector platforms

  • Experience with process modeling, optimization, and data analytics

  • Track record of team development and collaborative leadership
